2021 Summer Portfolio Workshop

SUN Arts Portfolio preparation sessions are offered to students highly interested in attending the High School for the Arts in  New York. 

 

Our portfolio tutorials are designed to help all interested applicants complete their current portfolio or begin a portfolio for their upcoming in-person or online audition to the school of your preference. 

 

The guidance given for portfolios is tailor-made to fit the High School for the Arts requirements. 

 

Our teachers will work along with the students implementing health and safety protocols, including social distancing and mask-wearing, as a safe supervised experience in a supportive environment.

 

By the end of this workshop, each student will come away with a working portfolio ready to show, they will also be able to: 

 

  • Present the portfolio in a professional manner. 
  • Understand atmospheric perspective: foreground, middle ground, and background. 
  • Demonstrate understanding of the creative process of drawing objects, still life, human body, and portrait. 
  • Demonstrate understanding and use of materials, techniques, processes, and language in painting focused on watercolor and acrylic mediums. 
  •  Understand the basics of color theory and the proper mix of colors.
  • Being able to accept constructive critics of your work as well as provide proper critics of the works of others. 
  • Students will develop their own distinctive process and style.
