Artist Studio Residency Membership Program

SUN ARTS is the Arts And Culture division of Sustainable United Neighborhoods, Inc., a Brooklyn-based 501(c)(3), which maintains a community hub and public art gallery at The Bushwick Generator, curated by our in-house team of multidisciplinary artists: Carlos Torres Machado, Keli Lucas and Justin Muñoz.


We are committed to serving the local arts ecosystem through grants, professional development, cultural heritage programming, and arts education. Artists’ work is produced at our in-house art studio space where we promote collaboration with the community. Our art education programming includes the latest digital technologies to expand on an artist’s creative possibilities.

SUN ARTS strives to foster a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace where our creative professionals, whatever their gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation or identity, education, have the ability to feel valued and respected. We respect and value diverse life experiences and heritages, and work to ensure that all voices are heard.

 

We are committed to modeling diversity and inclusion for the arts community in Brooklyn.

Our members can take an active leadership role by completing proposed tasks, organizing and hosting events, and contributing to other member’s projects.

Who should apply?

If you are an artist living in New York and work with various materials to inspire ideas of sustainability and community, you may be the perfect candidate. 

 

If you are an artist living outside of New York with hopes to visit, create and exhibit with us, please tell us your reason for visiting and what duration of time you would like space to create with us. 

Fees and Accommodations

  • Membership fee of $250/Month
  • Two floors with fast WiFi, central air, working and exhibiting space
  • Exhibition opportunities at our SUN Arts Gallery located next door at 203 Moore st. 
  • Mural opportunities as part of our Moore Art Walls Project
  • 24 hour security cameras, ensuring the safety of all artworks and equipment in the space 
  • All access kitchenette with appliances
  • Personal access security code 
  • Two restrooms
  • Priority for event space bookings
