Moore Art Walls

An ever expanding project that will utilize the available wall space outside of the Bushwick Generator (more than 400 ft long) to create hand painted outdoor art murals that will serve as curated space for the creative community and beautify Moore street in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

The premise of this public beautification project is that drawing and painting is the fundamental basis of all visual language, dating back to the first cave paintings. As such, public artwork will be explored through the development of both technical skills and concepts. Dialogues will revolve around contemporary visual issues. Work will involve the use of all media. Experimentation and invention will be stressed. Publicly painting will be viewed as a primary vehicle through which an artist grows in the struggle for freedom of expression, as we celebrate the importance of art in history, opening up a public conversation on current events.

We first launched Moore Art Walls this past Summer of 2021 after nearly a year of proposal building for approval. Once we got permission to curate public artwork by working artists in New York City, we hosted a public arts festival fundraiser to help get our next round of murals off the ground.

Further goals for the project are to develop relationships with other organizations and businesses in the community to further funding to expand curation to other available wall spaces on or around the Bushwick neighborhood and surrounding areas.
